Artist At The Studio

The resident artist describes her studio setup at Sprouting Spaces, emphasizing how the expanded space allows her to “move from one project to another without skipping a beat.” She maintains separate work stations for different materials — resin, ceramics, fabric, and painting.

The post focuses on one mixed media piece featuring steam-bent wood. She explains: “I saw it was able to stand up on edge by itself, and realized I wanted to make other plans for it.” One side features charcoal drawings and oil painting depicting the ancient Hallucigenia worm, while the reverse displays wood-burned imagery including “twirling dogs, prowling chickens, eyeballs undergoing REM sleep.”

The artist discusses conceptual influences including Carlo Rovelli’s The Order of Time and Katie Mack’s The End of Everything, exploring themes of deep time, climate anxiety, and how personal time zones intersect when lives make contact.
